Hello everyone! My name is Brandon Foy, I'm 19 years old and I was born in Media, PA. I come from a big family of five, with two older brothers who are 21 and 26, an older sister who is 24, and a younger sister who is 12. I went to public school my whole life until I reached eighth grade and thought about looking into a private school. The one I had my eye on was St. Joes Prep, which is located in North Philadelphia. Following after both of my brothers, I ended up attending there for high school, which I absolutely loved. It was a huge change of pace for me, but I thought it was awesome meeting different kids from all different areas, some as far as Delaware. I feel like attending the school helped developed me into a better writer as well. Now, I am attending Delaware County Community College and taking some classes, which will then hopefully transfer over to Temple University. In my free time I love to ski and I also go bowling a lot with my friends and bet on games with them, which makes it way more entertaining. I currently work at Middletown Pizza as a delivery driver, and Brick and Brew as a busser. I'm in a relationship with my girlfriend, Arianna, who I also consider my best friend.
As of right now I haven't been reading many books, but I will read a lot of news articles on sports or some politics and twitter posts. In high school I read many short stories and poems and I would have to say my favorite writers are Robert Frost and John Keats. Those are two names that stick out to me and come to mind because their writing is very distinguishable and unique.
I focus most of my writing on short stories, or social media posts. I like to use my humor in a lot of my writing because I feel like it's more entertaining to read and write that way. I like to keep my formal writing papers professional and really thought out, but with my website I really enjoy typing and getting my thought my writing. Most of my writing comes in the day time because I like to have a clear, awake mind and I'm usually a better writer during the day. I either drive to Delaware County Community College or I type on my laptop in my dining room at home. I need complete silence when I'm writing because I'm not a good multitasker and I tend to get sidetracked pretty easily. I also like writing during the day because I get a good breakfast and coffee in me and that's when I'm at my peak performance. I used to put my writing assignments on paper and then type it on my laptop, but now I find it easier if I start typing and then clean up any messiness once I'm finished. I enjoy writing because sometimes it may be hard to put your thoughts into words and easier to put it on paper, or type it. Writing makes it easy for you to express your emotions and to explore different paths and that will eventually lead to growth.
My past experiences with writing have been powerful because it's shaping me into a better writer. In this course, I'm hoping to keep building on that and changing my author identity into a more diverse and emotional writer. With these blog assignments and website assignments, I feel like that's helping me gain an insight on how I can truly connect with my writing and not being afraid to take any risks. This will hopefully, continue to shape me into a better writer and develop a new author identity.
